Message from the AACS President
Dear AACS members and friends,
Happy New Year!
We had a fantastic conference in Milwaukee! Very special thanks to Mike Hirsch for all of his hard work and dedication and for making us feel so welcome in his hometown. Many thanks also to Libby Larsen, Fonda Martin, Amy Allen, Mueni Rudd, and our amazing Milwaukee host committee for helping to make this one of our most successful meetings ever!
As the challenges facing individuals and societies in the domestic and world communities continue to broaden and deepen by the day, practitioners of applied and clinical sociology continue to make a difference in ways both big and small. Our organization works to make a difference through such means as our commitment to student outreach, our attention to critically-emergent issues, our advancement of theory, research and methods in the field, and through the outstanding community engagement of our members. If you are already a member of AACS, thank you for renewing your membership. If you are not a member, I hope you will consider establishing a new membership and partnering with us in our efforts to make a difference through the practice of sociology.
Each October our members come together and demonstrate their passion for working to promote the application of sociological knowledge to effect beneficial social change. This year we are heading to the beautiful Pacific Northwest! We hope you will join us for the 2013 annual meetings of the Association of Applied and Clinical Sociology in Portland, Oregon, October 3-5 where our theme will be:
Change the Process; Change the Outcome; Change the World!
Real World Sociology for the 21st Century
Please mark your calendars now. The first call for sessions will go out early this year. We are planning another great conference and we hope to see you there!

Colleagues in Applied and Clinical Sociology,
I looking for colleagues interested in partnering with me for sessions at the annual meeting…
I have a couple thoughts –
“Creating a Sociological Practice”
“Dealing with the Confusion: Can We finally get a Uniform Definition for Sociological Practice?”
“ Making AACS More Effective: A Brainstorming Session”
I’m willing to work with others…
Anybody interested?
